KW Midwifery is a teaching practice of the Ontario Midwifery Education Program and the International Midwifery Preregistration Programme. Student midwives are involved in various aspects of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care depending on their level of training and skill.  Your student will follow you along with your midwife, who will ensure the student’s involvement is safe, appropriate and supportive.  Students bring enthusiasm, fresh research, critical thinking, plus gratitude for the chance to learn while caring for you.  We hope you will consider yourself vital in our student’s training.

Students in KW Midwifery

My name is Brandi Wasyluk and I am a midwifery student entering the last year of the Midwifery Education Program at McMaster University. Prior to commencing my training as a midwife I completed a Bachelor of Science degree in the Honours Physiology program at McGill University in Montreal. While I have always had a strong passion for women’s health, it was during my first undergraduate degree that I became inspired by the midwifery model of care and decided to pursue midwifery.

My older sister is a practicing midwife; through her I have been able to better appreciate what a joy, honour and privilege it is to empower and support women throughout their pregnancy, labour, birth and as new mothers. I have lived in a number of communities in Saskatchewan, Alberta, the Yukon and Quebec and have completed placements in St. Jacobs, Guelph, Hamilton and Tanzania.  I look forward to becoming a part of this new community and being involved in the care of the clients at Kitchener Waterloo Midwifery Associates!
